As in the past, the show will include over 150 judged quilts, demonstrations, vendors, a mini-quilt auction, raffle prizes, boutique and refreshments.

Established in 1982, the Warwick Valley Quilters’ Guild is celebrating its 40th year in 2022. Its mission to “create, stimulate, and maintain an interest in all matters pertaining to the making, collecting and preserving of quilts” has attracted members from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania as well as outside the tri-state area. The Guild is excited to bring back the “Stars of the Valley” Quilt Show to further support that mission and bring the artistry and beauty of quilting back to the community.

Guild members Penny Merkel and Trish Herskee are chairing this year’s event and are thrilled that “Stars of the Valley” is returning.

“We have waited a long time to finally bring “Stars of the Valley” back, and it is especially exciting during the Guild’s 40th anniversary. Quilters are so creative, and it will be wonderful to have their efforts displayed – this event is a perfect opportunity for that workmanship and artistry to shine and be enjoyed by quilters and non-quilters alike,” stated Merkel and Herskee.

Additionally, the biennial quilt show is the guild’s largest source of fundraising that has been missing since 2016. The smaller “Airing of the Quilts” was held last year in Veterans Memorial Park in Warwick, a successful, pandemic-safe alternative to a full-sized show. As in past years, the October Quilt Show will feature a “raffle quilt”, a collaborative guild effort that results in a beautifully crafted quilt to be raffled off to a lucky winner.
