2020 Winner - Eleanor Pyke

It is with great pleasure that the Warwick Valley Quilters’ Guild has awarded the 2020 Phyllis Klein Scholarship to Eleanor Pyke of Warwick Valley High School   The scholarship is open to high school seniors planning to pursue an education in the field of fiber arts (including majors such as textile arts, fashion design, fashion marketing) and fine arts (including such majors as painting, sculpture, graphic art).    Eleanor has studied Fashion and Interior Design at Orange-Ulster BOCES center as well as taking classes and working at Sewcology in Warwick.   She has attended pre-college programs at Marist College and the Fashion Institute of Technology and is a member of the National Technical Honor Society.   Her other interests include music, volunteering at the food bank, and holding a black belt at Chosun Taekwondo.  Eleanor plans to pursue a 4-year degree in fashion design with a minor in fashion merchandising.    She has been accepted at Ulster County Community College, SUNY Oneonta, Marist College, and the Fashion Institute of Technology.

Warwick Valley Quilters' Guild was founded in September 1982. The purpose of our guild is to create, stimulate, and maintain an interest in all matters pertaining to the making, collecting and preserving of quilts. Our membership has grown from approximately 30 to 150 members from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
